corrupt local area connection advanced properties

In the advanced tab of netconnection properties, I have "Windows cannot
display the properties of this connection. The WMI information might be
corrupt....." and it suggests system resore. Is there anything less dramatic
to recover ?
Thanks,
Bill

Go to Device Manager and uninstall the network adapter that the
corrupted connection uses. Reboot, which will cause the system to
reinstall the network adapter and create a new network connection.

Steve,
Did as suggested. Still have corrupt advanced. Since it appears to be WMI
related, I've seen other posting/web sites suggesting that you delete the
Windows\system32\wbem\repository files. They can't be deleted being in use.
Should I stop WMI services, try to delete & restart WMI ?
Thanks
Bill

Bill,

I'm sorry, but I don't know the answer to that question. Take a look
at the WMI article that Eric Cross mentioned in his reply.

All, just an update. The WMI recovery approach did not work. I'm now doing
system restore to find what caused. I'll post results when finalized.
Thanks
Bill

After you deleted the repository did you do this?

1. open a command prompt
2. "cd /d %windir%\system32\wbem"
3. "mofcomp hnetcfg.mof"
