ICS corrupt

XP home, OEM, BT Broadband previously shared successfully, now broken. On the
BT Broadband network connection dialog, Advanced tab, I now get the message:
"Windows cannot display the properties of this connection. The Windows
Management Instrumentation (WMI) information might be corrupted. To correct
this, use System Restore....". System restore is not an option. Trying to use
an XP CD to do a repair installation does not work (I have SP2 and it
complains that it is a different version of Windows). How do I
repair/reinstall ICS connection sharing? There are other posts here asking
similar questions, but no solution yet. HELP!

try sfc /scannow from the cmd prompt - have the sp2 disk ready - failing
that have your original xp disc -

check your event viewer - run complete virus (email me for a good checker
link;) check from safe mode - run spybot and maybe try downloading the WMI
distribution files from M$
