corrupt images; just found thumbails ?

Hi about a year ago my pics went corrupt when I was saving to a CD. No
thumbnails and any suggestions posted here didn't solve the problem.

I have Windows XP.

I just 'now' noticed on the computer that in my Kodak Easy Share software
(photo albums) I can see the thumbnails of the corrupt/missing images. (I
normally use Windows photo program and therefore don't open pics via the
Kodak software).

I can not open the pics as it says the files are missing or deleted etc.

So....if I can see the thumbnails then are the pics still retrievable/fixable?

Thanks

Unfortunately, no. The thumbnails are tiny versions of your pictures
that are saved in a separate file. If the originals are gone, the
thumbnails will only remind you of what you're missing. ;-(

IIRC, there is a known bug that crops up under some circumstances
when using the built-in facility to copy photos to a CD. Someone
here will probably chime regarding that and how to avoid it.

What size are the thumbnail files. If they are say less than 25K,
then your high resolution pictures are lost. If they are more than
200K (upto a few MBs) then your pictures will should still be
recoverable.

I am not clear, are the files just on your CD, or also on your hard
drive?

When I click on properties for the Thumbnails I don't see the thumbnail size.
Only the 'origninal' pic size 1440 x 2160 pxls.

Both the pics on the hard drive and CD are corrupt. I have saved pics many
times before with no problem. This particular time I was saving them and they
all went funny.

Thanks

You need to look in Windows explorer for the physical file size.
