Pictures Overlap in My Pics Folder. Help!!

I have a few thousand pics in the my pics folder. I have been trying to sort
them into separate folders for some time now. When I view the pics in
thumbnails, you can see a picture and the #. When you try to open the pic,
you get a totally different picture. It is only happening to a few hundred
of them. I think one of the reasons is because I keep upgrading my canon
cameras. And the camera gives it a # each time. I just want to separate the
pics. Please help.

There are several ways to repair this, the easy way is.
1. Make a new folder
2. Open the folder with the problem pictures.
3. After opening the folder. select all the pictures.
4. After selecting all the pictures, look at the menu on the left under File
and Folder Tasks and click on Copy the selected items. A window will open,
navigate to the new folder you just made to select it. Then open this new
folder. You should now have the proper corresponding thumbnails/pics. If so,
just delete the older folder.
