corrupt file using microsoft office97

These may be different problems (I don't know) I've tried uninstalling and
reinstalling my Microsoft works suite 2005 after uninstalling I went into My
Computer and there was a (key type symbol) to the left of the Microsoft
Office 97 Professional Edition I tried to remove it and received an error
message -
C:\PROGRA~1MICROS~4OFFICE\SETUP\Off97Pro.STF now when I closed out of
that I received another message telling me the file was corrupt and to go to
the source where I started it from. So I put the disk back in and it said
none of the items were on my computer but the one above still is! I'm lost,
I've been trying different things all day. I reinstalled Mic. Works Ste
2005 and on the remove and add programs the (key symbol was replaced with a
W) however when I try to use Word a Square showing the PID shows up and
nothing else. Once I did get a screen which was going to start me in safe
mode so I went with that, but finally cancelled when it was apparent nothing
else was going to happen. Any Suggestions?

Since all of these issues relate to MS Office, it would be best for
you to post your question in an MS Office newsgroup, not a
Windows XP newsgroup.
