Copy Error in Win Xp to a DVD Drive

Hello

I was unable to find the answer to my question in the forum therefore ..here
it comes !!
My friend comes across a problem with windows xp while copying files
(pictures in jpg format and word docs - excell worked fine)
the error message as follows "windows has encountered a problem when trying
to copy this file what do you want windows to do" and a selection of retry
skip or cancle
did reboot, and the properties on the drive are set to recording. (and was
as the error happened for the first time)
She uses Windows Explorer to copy the files not a software e.g. nero.
She tried one file / all files with no success.
there is no corrupted file which would cause the issue either

Any infos about sending pictures and movie files (home movie about the
kiddies) to DVD Drive ?
Is there a possiblity that she needs a particular software, is XP able to
send files to a DVD Drive ? ?

Thanks Guys

Windows XP has no native DVD writing capabilities.

If it is a DVD blank your friend is attempting to write to third party
software (Nero etc..) will be required.
