Copy and Paste to Word 2007

When I copy anything at all, and attempt to paste it onto a Word document, I
find that the destination Word document must be open in order for me to paste
onto it. I have tried to copy from one Word document that I have created,
and opened a new Word document, but when I try to paste onto the new Word
document, there is nothing on the clip board. Is this normal?

That happens when you have certain add-ins present. One major culprit is the
Works Add-In for Word, which clears the clipboard as part of its startup
process.

If you have any files in the Startup folder,
%appdata%\Microsoft\Word\Startup, then move them to a different folder so
they won't load when Word starts. If you can now paste into a newly opened
document, you can put the files back into Startup one at a time, until you
find the one that kills the clipboard.
