Converting back to Basic Drive from Dynamic

G

Guest

I have Windows XP Pro, and was told that it would be better to have my drive
as dynamic, but once I converted it, I learned that Acronis True Image
doesn't support dynamic drives...

So know I am trying to find out what steps I need to go back to a basic disk!

I have about 40 gb used on my 200 gb hard drive, and also have an 80 gb
external drive... so if I use a program like Roxio or Norton Ghost to backup
my files what is the next step after that? Since the dynamic drive that I
want to convert is the drive with my OS, I can't go into disk management and
delete it, so will I need to do a clean install and reformat the drive first?
And then use Ghost recover my files? Will that work? Any help would be
greatly appreciated!

Couldn't you also partition the external drive (2 separate drives), use
Acronis to backup to the second partition, then install Windows XP on the
200gb, and then restore over the top using the Acronis backup from the
external?
