Another Dynamic to Basic Question

Computer is running XP Pro sp2. There are two hard drives installed, both
are Dynamic. If I convert the non boot drive to Basic, will it be possible
for me to tranfer my data to that drive, restore the boot drive to basic and
then recover the operating system and data to where I started from?
Thank you,

A bit more, my research turns up the following:

Unfortunately converting back to a basic disk is not as simple but you need
know the general process that has to be completed. Since the disk has to be
repartitioned, your very first step will be to back up all data on the
volumes then proceed with the steps below.

Click Start and click Run.
Type mmc and click OK.
Click Add/Remove Snap-in from the File menu.
Click Add. Select Disk Management, click Add then Finish, and click Close.
Click OK.
Click Disk Management (Local) in the left pane.
Right click a volume on the dynamic disk and click Delete Volume.
Click Yes.
Repeat steps 7 and 8 for each volume on the disk.
Right click the dynamic disk and click Convert to Basic.

My question is what happens next? Will the backup I created while in the
Dynamic state be restorable on the basic disk?

Thank you for any thoughts on this!
Steve
