WHEN IN COMMAND PROMPT WHEN TRYING TO CONVERT C: MES
COMES UP CANNOT RUN BECAUSE THE VOLUME IS IN USE BY
ANOTHER PROCESS CONVERT MAY RUN IF THIS IS DISMOUNTED
FIRST. ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD BECOME
INVALID. MY QUESTION IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I DISMOUNT
THE VOLUME FIRST?

Hi Lee,

Dismounting the volume won't hurt anything. It just closes all open files
etc and lets Windows work on the drive. After the reboot all is well. Here
is a link that you may find interesting espcially if you want good disk
performance

Hope this helps

p.s Typing in caps in a newsgroups generally means your yelling at the top
of your lungs and some find it offensive.

Please do not use CAPS - it makes for very difficult reading, and many
people take it as meaning you are SHOUTING.

Read up at www.aumha.org/win5/a/ntfscvt.htm

For C: you have to try to get it to dismount (it can't) and it will
offer to set up to do it next boot. Agree, shutdown and restart
