control panel sound

I am new and am here due to a problem I find strange.

Last Nov. I bought a new computer and installed my XP on
it and recently discovered that the Sound panel was never
installed. You know, in the lower right hand corner of
the bottom menu bar. I cannot control sound volume except
through applications.

XP cd has nothing on/in this and neither does Microsoft
site apparently. I am not sure what to so next.

Hi Serge,

Open the Sounds and Audio Devices applet in Control Panel, and, under the
Volume tab, click in the checkbox beside "Place volume icon in the taskbar"
to place a checkmark there, then click on Apply then OK.
