continuous reboot after installing Service Pack 4

On Saturday I installed SP4 on my Windows 2000 Pro laptop
and followed the instructions to reboot. It took FOREVER
to shut down and now it won't boot completely. It begins
goes as far as the screen where Windows loads, but as soon
as the progress bar finishes, it flickers, and then
restarts. Any ideas?

If you can boot into Safe Mode then un-install SP4. SP4 is problematic
on some machines.
