Continuing TCP/IP problem

About July 1st, my WinXP computer suddenly stopped
connecting to web (No adds/deletes done recently, but
WinUpdate running.) IPCONFIG shows an IP address, and I
can ping everything (127.0.0.1, www.yahoo.com, 4.2.2.2,
etc), except my own IP address, so DHCP and the DNS access
is working. TRACERT works fine and shows normal accessing.

I have reinstalled TCP/IP and Winsock per Microsoft KB
articles, renamed hosts file, rolled back system
settings. I can't find a firewall installed (How to tell
if I missed something?)

I lost the WinXP CD, so I can't try a repair/reinstall
(How do I get another one??)

Try something else ?

Thanks for trying to help ...

If you have a direct connection to a Cable/DSL modem or use a dialup modem,
the Windows XP firewall should not prevent you from connecting to the
Internet. However, sometimes you will not get an Internet connection if you
enable the XP firewall and you use a NAT router with its own firewall
enabled. To check whether the XP firewall is enabled, right click on your
Local Area Connection, select Properties and click the Advanced tab.
