My Dads machine keeps shutting down unexpectedly....
sometimes there is no warning other times he gets a
screen telling him to check his disk space and disable
his cache (which I have done to no avail) with a clock
counting up to 100 before it restarts. You could be
doing anything on the system from playing cards to
editing photos, it doesn't matter it will still crash. I
have virus checked it and found 'six keys from hell' got
rid of it and fixed, still no difference I have also
tried restoring still no difference. Please can somebody
give me some ideas... my Dad is very ill and using his
computer gives him good mental stimulus, but he is
getting tired of being dumped so often.

Can you give us some error messages from event viewer in
the administrative tools. If Remote Procedure Call
terminated...etc is listed you have a variant of the
MSBlaster worm. Let us know what you find.

continous crashing

Hi,
I have the same problems. My computer keeps starting up again whenever or whatever I am doing. It gives no warning, it just starts up again. Today I also discovered that I had this virus. I got rid of the virus, but the computer keeps starting up again and again. This is the message I see on the screen during starting up Windows (when I didn't ask for a restart):

***STOP: 0x000000A5 (0x00000011 ,0x00000007 ,0xED2A00C8 ,0x0100000A)

The ACPI BIOS in this system is not fully compliant with the ACPI specification. Please read the README.TXT for possible workarounds. You can also contact your system’s manufacturer for an updated BIOS, or visit http://www.hardware-update.com to see if a new BIOS is available.

The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor or visit http://www.hardware-update.com for an updated BIOS. If you are unable to obtain an updated BIOS or the latest BIOS supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you that the F7 key was pressed – it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation.

I made more space available on my harddrive, but it didn't help. I'd be glad to hear if somebody has a solution.
