Hello

1) When I right-click on my Contacts > Properties > Outlook Address Book
tab, the "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" is greyed out.

How can enable it ?

2) My "Contacts" item used to be under my "Mailbox - my name" tree. It has
now disappeared. How can I get it back?

Many thanks

1) Add the Outlook Address Book to your mail profile. Details depend on your Outlook version.

2) Display the Folder List navigation pane or in Outlook 2003 or 2007, show the Contacts navigation module.

Hi Best,

1) It is because that the Outlook Address Book is not added in the Outlook
program. Follow the steps below to add the Outlook Address Book to fix it.
(Following steps are for Outlook 2003, if you are using other version,
please let me know.)

1. Start Outlook 2003.
2. On the Tools menu, click "E-mail Accounts".
3. Choose the latest option "View or change existing directories or address
books", and then click Next.
4. Are you able to find the "Outlook Address Book"? If so, please just skip
to step #2. If not, please continue to 5-7 to add Outlook Address Book.
5. Click Add. Click Additional Address Books, and then click Next.
6. Click Outlook Address Book, and then click Next. Click OK when you
receive the message to restart Outlook 2003. Click Finish.
7. Click Exit on the File menu to quit Outlook 2003. Restart Outlook.

2) It is mostly caused that you are in the Mail view which only shows up
the Mail folders. Please click Go menu > Folder List to show all the
folders including Contacts under your "Mailbox-name" tree.

By the way, please allow me to clarify that: Generally, we answer one
question per post in the newsgroups. In order to concentrate fully on each
of these problems we ask that you post them as separate threads. That way
each issue can receive full attention from the Support Professional to whom
it is assigned. This will also make the thread more clear and consistent
for your reference.

If my suggestion in 2) doesn't work, please feel free to open different
post for this question. We will be very glad to work with you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't
hesitate to contact me.

Hi Emily:
How do I fix this with Outlook 2007?
The "Show this [Contacts] folder as an e-mail Address Book" line is greyed
out.
Thanks,

Did you already add the Outlook Address Book service? You can do this on the
right most tab in Account Settings.

Hi Roady:

Yes the Outlook Address Book MAPI is already there and Outlook won't let me
add another of the same type. When I click on "Change" it indicates ... "To
desingate a Contacts folder as an Outlook Address Book, go to the Properties
dialog box for the Contacts folder. On the Outlook Address Book tab, select
the "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" check box." This line and
the check box are greyed-out so that I can not select it or check the box.
Is this a Security or User Account problem ... I'm already desingated as an
Administrator, but the enhanced security features of Office 2007 are
continually causing me problems.
Thanks,
Gerown

Emily,

I'm having the exact same problem in Outlook 2007 -- it's not recognizing my
Contact folder as an email address list. When I right-click on my Contacts >
Properties > Outlook Address Book tab, the "Show this folder as an e-mail
Address Book" is greyed out.

How can I enable it ?

Thanks,
Paul

You'll need to start with a new mail profile and make sure the Outlook
Address Book service is properly configured.
