Contacts not providing email addresses

When I start a new message I click on the TO: to bring up my available
contacts/email addresses.. I get an error message that says: "The address
list could not be displayed. The contacts folder associated with address
list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted or you do not
have permission. For information on how to remove this folder the Outlook
address book see MS office outlook help" When I click on the contacts all
contacts are there. What do I do to make the contacts availabe. If I go
into the contacts I can click on an email address and a new message will
start with the associated address.

How to I get the contact list working properly?

Remove the Outlook address book and add it again.
For Outlook 2003:
Tools | Email Accounts | View or change existing directories or address
books ....
Then ensure the Contacts folder is set to be viewed as an address book.
