Contacts are missing when I click the To and Outlook freezes

I am using Vista and recently upgraded from office 2003 to 07. It did its
magic and gave me back all my outlook data without any action on my part.

If I try to click the address book icon or the To, cc, or bcc buttons
nothing happens and the program completely freezes and I have to use the task
manager to close it. the contacts are clearly there if I click the contacts
icon.

I have looked at the directions in outlook help....
-The box in contacts property is greyed out on the outlook address book tab.
-I went to account settings and the address book is there
-I went to tools and the contact list is the default
-I went to mail in the control panel and created a new profile and started
to use that but it was going to import over 4k email messages... I stopped
that!
-I ran the office diagnostic tool
-I put the install disc back in and did "repair".

No luck on all counts. Any other ideas????

thanks

You need to make a new profile but don't import the old messages in to a
new profile, add the old pst to the profile before opening the profile.
