Constant Right Click

I have a laptop - Dell Inspiron running XP that has a constant right click
entering it. This happens with or without a mouse attached. I have run the
Dell check-up and it prompted me to upgrade the driver for the touchpad, but
that did not work. I have run a virus check and a spyware check and nothing
has been detected. It is very difficult to use the laptop when this is
happening. On re-boot the problem seems to clear but then comes back - but
I'm not sure what the event is that makes it happen.

That does not appear to be the problem. The button does not seem to be
pressed.

What can be done about this - can it be fixed? Or can I somehow disable the
touchpad and use only a mouse for input?

Thank you for your help.

You can usually disable the touchpad in BIOS, I would try it and see if the
problem goes away. If it is the problem you'd need to replace it or leave it
disabled.
