constant page refresh

My ten year old Dell laptop running windows XP constantly refreshes itself
or momentarily freezes when using internet explorer on some websites. Any
idea as to what may be causing this to happen. I'm thinking maybe the hard
drive or possibly the CPU? If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate some help
on this.

I installed both sides of 157 and have the same issue. I am using IE6 and
here's one of the links that keeps refreshing. Note, I'm also using IE6 on
my Dell tower with no problems with refreshes. Thank you, Dennis

What anti-virus software are you using? I have seen this "problem"
when McAfee was set up to scan all files as part of the shielding
process.

AVG Version 8.0.233 on both computers.
