Constant reboots after ghosting

The situation:

2 brand new gateway computers. XP Pro. VLK
Identical hardware config.

Set up computer A with our standard suite of software and complete all windows
updates.

When finished I ghost it to computer B. Once finished computer B loads up to
the xp splash screen for about 2 seconds, computer reboots over and over
again.

Run restore disks on computer B. Works great.

Computer C arrives, same as the other 2. Try ghost. Same result. Rebooting
over and over..

Did microsoft change anything in the recent rounds of updates that prevent
ghost from working correctly? Anyone else running into this?

Thanks in advance,
Don

I forgot to mention that you can take the HD out of computer A, slap it into
computer B or C and it boots and runs great!..

It's normal. Each computer has its own set of cypher keys, cid's, etc, so
they have to be brought into proper correlation with each other. You're
using lower case "g" in ghost, so I assume you simply mean some sort of
clonging software. Regardless, the data isn't being put onto the exact SAME
sectors in the eXACT same order, at the EXACT same platter addresses on the
other drives, and thus they can't completely configure upon boot. In a true
clone operation, every bit of every nibble of every byte resides at the same
exact address on the clone as it was on the original. Not many software do
that anymore.
On the chance you meant "Ghost" and not "ghost", I'd say you probably
didn't use the Advanced settings for the disk cloning operation, and can't
even guess at anything else since you gave no name or version, etc., of
anything you're using.

http://www.gotfusion.com/tutsTD/ask.cfm among others will advise you well.

I am indeed using Ghost. I thought that was obvious by the usage of the word
ghost in reference to cloning a hard drive. Forgive me for assuming you
wouldn't be tripped up by a lowercase g.

Ghost Solution Suite 1.1 Ghost 8.3

As for settings there aren't many.
Choose disk to disk, choose the source, choose the destination,
Click ok. Wait.

When I'm finished I Ghostwalk the machine, change its name and SID.

I've used this method hundreds of times and it's worked flawlessly until
recently.

Hi Don

I've had this problem several times before, for us it turned out to be
a small difference in the hardware on the motherboard. If you re-
ghost pc A then re-deploy it to pc A, I bet all is OK. If you re-
ghost pc B then re-deploy it to pc B, I bet all will be OK. Just a
thought if you image pc B to pc A do you get the reboot problem again.
If you want to setup a dedicated server for ghosting take a look at
