help emergency can't boot after ghost!

Hi folks!

I'm using my old win 98 system to write to you, as I try and boot my
new win xp pro computer. All has been fine with it for a month, but
tonight I thought I'd try to create a Norton Ghost backup. I started
the program in windows, which said it would reboot my system. But
the boot never worked, and I am in an impossible loop asking for a
proper boot disk...
I have the 2 Norton Ghost boot floppies (it is ghost 2003). I load
them, but when I try to select a disk/drive to image, it says there
is nothing there.
I don't have any other kind of boot disk. Can I make one from this
win 98 system to use???
All I really want to do now is get back to my plain old XP pro
windows... but I can't!!
I've got the original XP disk, but it either wants to load XP
altogether, or when I try "recovery console" I get a C:> prompt...
not sure what to do then (the only option it mentions is to "exit"
which puts me in the same no boot loop).
HELLLLP!
THANKS ALL!

In your bios. Change the boot order.
1-Floppy,
2- cdrom,
3-hardrive

Remove any cd.
Now let nortons ghost load.
It will come up with a message hit cancel. let norton close.
remove when computer start to boot.

It a little tricky to use ghost. Which version of ghost do you have?

ah- yes- well- that may be the heart of the problem!
When I go into the bios to change that order, there AIN'T no
hardrive option!!! I suspect a hardware problem now, when I do MAP I
only get A: floppy and F: cd rom
so...
back to the builders I suspect.
Could Ghost have caused all of this?

the sequence of events was:
all fine with XP since got it 4 weeks ago
installed Ghost 2003 a week ago but didn't run it
also installed Roxio Creator 7 but just fiddles with it
yesterday thought I'd try to do a full system backup with Ghost so
started the process from inside windows, which then said it would
reboot
which it never has properly
I used the Ghost "boot floppies" I had made last week, still no go
now this impossible situation.
sigh.
Thanks for all clues,
Jam.

It should not be the cause of this.
However, I am going by my version of ghost 2003.

It sound like your hard drive came unplug.

If you are brave enough.
Use a static wrist strap.
First, unplug the computer. Open you computer up.
check to see if the io cable is lose. Plug it back in.
Don't force it, if it does not go in, try the other way.

While you in there. You might check all the io cable and cords to see
if they are plugged in tight and you other stuff as well.

thanks, I'll give it a shot. It is acting weird- sometimes the
install setup sees drives, sometimes it doesn't.
I'm flummoxed.
Jam.
