Constant "Page cannot be found message"

T

Tom Flanagan

I have Windows XP (Service Pack 2) and have IE 6.0.2900.2180. Some time ago
I had all sorts of spyware problems and I switched to Firefox and downloaded
several spyware programs. I primarily use firefox as my browser but
occasionally would use IE, and all was working fine. Recently when I try to
open IE all I get is "Page cannot be found" with the detail listing of
things to try, none of which work. I've tried looking online to
troubleshoot but I have no idea where to begin. I was hoping to just
uninstall and reinstall IE but I guess that isn't possible.

Any suggestions as to how I might get IE working again.

Thanks

Tom

PS My Firefox browser works fine, it's just Internet Explorer that I can't
get to work.

Ill bet you managed to get new spyware. Before using whatever programs you
used before make sure you update them before scanning with them again.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
