Constant dialog box

Michael

I have a Pentium 3, 447MHx, w/320 Ram Memory, about 3
years old that started out with Windows 98 second
edition. Last Christmas I got XP home edition as a gift.
It was working fine untill Thursday this week
(01/23/2004).
I installed one of the many updates for XP that
automattically come to me as I have it set up to download
updates and then I decide if I want them or not.
I ahve started to get a dialog box that comes up about
every thirty seconds that says the following:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\surte.exe
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS;054f IP:0192 op:63 6f 73 74 20
Chose 'Close' to terminate this application.
I can close it sometimes it takes multiple clicks on
close but it alwasy comes back.Does any one know what
this is and how do I correct it?
