Connecting various programs via internet! HELP

Hi there,

I am having problems connecting various programs to the internet. For
example I downloaded ITUNES but cannot connect to the store. A message pops
up saying that I need to check my network connection and settings.

I am able to surf the Net just fine but I can't connect to the internet with
all sorts of programs. I have tried to turn off the firewall but still the
programs will not work. I also have allowed the programs which does not help
either.

If someone could please assist I would truly be greatful. THANKS..

Hi

I don't know really what that problem means but I'll try to give what i can
to solve the problem. do you use a modem or a router to access through the
internet. if it's a router try to see the settings inside it. If not, try to
download the latest version of I-tunes and try again. by the way check your
internet explorer security settings. move the security level to medium. save
and restart your computer.
Tell me after that if the problem is sole or not

Hey thanks for the suggestions. By the way the laptop is running Windows
Vista I believe home edition. What happens is that basically any program I
am using such as Itunes or various other internet applications fail to work
properly even after proper download.

Itunes for example will not connect to the store once I open it. It says
that the connection timed out and that I should check the network settings.
Other programs such as Ares, Real player etc will not connect to the
internet. They will just sit there saying that it is loading but it never
loads.

I have checked the security and it is appropriately at medium. Also I use a
wireless router to connect to the internet. Other computers I use can run
all of these applications using the internet fine. On the "problematic"
laptop I still can surf the web w/internet explorer without problems. I
simply cannot use the programs.

I looked at the router settings but am not all that familiar with exactly
what they should be. I never have altered any of them since taking it out of
the box. I never thought that would be the problem since other computers
using the network can use all applications with internet fine.

Once again thanks for your assistance. I truly appreciate any further
suggestions.

cheers,

That remind me some problem with firewall. I want you to investigate on this
way. what kind of firewall did you user on your computer? Norton, karpesky or
mcafee. Try to disable your firewall and if the problem is resolve try to
autorise the applications on the firewall program. anyway, if it too
complicate to do (cause some firewall are not easy to understand and use so
easily) try to contact to software support for more help.
the second suggestion, is only if the first one didn't help. I 'll ask to
wire your laptop.maybe that can be a wifi problem. with wire, some program
which use a huge part of band-width have better chance to connect on the
intenet. If the problem is not resolve tell me
