I have three PCs on a home wireless network. One PC is a desktop using
XP/3 connected to a Linksys wireless router via wire (Ethernet). The
other two are laptops connected via wireless, one is XP/3 and the
other is Vista. My problem concerns the Vista laptop.
When I boot this laptop the Internet is connected. The icon on the
task bar is two small screens with a blue dot. After an indeterminate
time the blue dot disappears and I have lost the 'Net. This is what I
have done.
1). Click on the icon to disconnect from the network then reconnect to
an available network. I always use the home network which has the name
"Jean." This usually works until the next disconnect.
2). Power down the Vista and then reboot. This usually works but not
always.
3). Go to Control Panel/Network and Sharing Center. There the Vista is
shown connected to Jean but Jean is not always connected to the 'Net.
Using "Connect to a Network" some times works.
4). I do the usual things like rebooting the Modem and the router.
This sometimes works,
5). I have not yet tried Control Panel/Internet Options.
6). The other two PCs are not affected.
Any ideas anyone?
Many thanks,
Peter.
