Connecting Two Scanners (USB Conflicts)

I understand two USB scanners can conflict with Win XP OS. I'm going to
guess that the same is true of the other Win OS's.

Can one get around this by setting up one of the devices using the parallel
port, (multi-function device) and the other via a USB port, (flatbed
scanner).

Feedback is greatly appreciated.

TIA

Microsoft says basically to unplug one scanner from the USB and reboot
computer, then plug in the other scanner.

I have two USB scanners attached using XP Pro with no problems.
You can always just plug one in at a time if you have an issue or
perhaps it will be just enough to keep one powered off.
I don't know what happens if you try to scan with both at the
same time.
