Connecting Network Printers

I am a first time corporate user of XP Pro - so go gentle with me please!

I am trying to add a network printer and get a message:

"There is a policy in place in your computer which prevents the connection -
please see system admin"

or similar wordage.

Is this a user rights issue or what?
Presumably I have to install the printers while logged on as the user to
make them available in his profile?

Go to the PC with the printer attached and ensure it is set to be shared....

You might want to take a look at Bruce Sanderson's article at

Can you see the files and folders on the PC with the printer from your XP
PC? If not, you have a network configuration problem..... have a look at
