Connecting Husqvarna Card reader writer problem

G

Guest

My mother just purchased a new computer (1st timer), She wants to connect a
Husquvarna Embroidery Card Reader/Writer. It connects with 25 pin serial
cable so we got her a USB to serial adapter cable and loaded the software
that came with it. Now when we try to read from the card reader we get the
following error.

The top of the window reads "Husqvarna Viking Reader Writer PRO NT"
then in the box it reads "Fault by SEMLPT.SYS"

Please help, I'm not able to help her and she is getting discouraged with
her new fangled sewing machine, since it will not do all the thing she bought
it for.

Does the manufacturer list an email address in the documentation? Did the
usb to serial adaptor come with the Viking?

I had a client who also tried this. You have to get away from the serial
cable. It does not read correctly through the USB thus the errors OR find a
computer prior to 2001 and it will have a serial connection. Good luck.

My reader writer is not the USB and I'm still getting the same error. I
have emailed Husqvarna four days ago, and have not received a response. Can
anyone assist me with steps to correct this problem.
Thanks

You didn't tell us what the error is. If your "reader writer" isn't USB,
you didn't tell us what it *is*. Refer to this site for what details
you need to include in your next newsgroup post in order to get focused

With regard to my previous query which, after following your advise was solved, the next. The old power cable for the reader writer was totally worn out and did not make proper connection. I thought I would bring it with to the UK, but somewhere it went missing with the unpacking. Is there a way that I could purchase another power cable.

Reader writer : Husqvarna Embroidery Card Reader/Writer
Computer : Windows XP
Husqvarna Embroidery Machine : Orchid / 1250
Printer : Canon IP 4200

The reader writer also has two options for the 25 pin connection, either computer or printer. I was also advised to plug it in at the 'printer port' on the R/W. Is there any difference - Computer port or printer port?

My main concern now is to get power to the R/W PLEASE HELP

As a follow-up to the lost power pack question... Does anyone that has one know the output voltage & amperage of the power pack? Then another of same style could be used.
