Connecting a Dell Laptop to TV

Dell Inspiron 4150 with a 7 pin connector running Windows XP SP2

S video cable

Syntax Olevia 42 inch tv with 2 S-video connectors

I am not able to get the Television recognised as the 2nd display. I
tried all the display settings and when I hit idenitfy on the 2nd
display it doesnt display the number 2 where as it does display the
number for my laptop. Can any one suggest some trouble shooting about
what might be going on here.

Can I use a VGA male to male cable to connect from my laptop to the
LCD?

Do I get audio routed to my TV as well? or just video?
