Connect to Nt Network from OSX via Dialup

S

Steve Forster

A few of us in the company have purchased G4 laptops using OSX. We now need
access to the dial in network for email etc. I have configured all of the
ppp settings similar to my win 98 machine but the connection wont complete.
The IT department has said all of the Apple settings on the servers are
correct and one of the guys even logged in using a "back door", but the rest
of us can't.

Any help is appreciated

Hello Steve,

Mac OSX uses as far as I know the 'Extensible Authentication Protocol
(EAP)'. This authentication method is not enabled by default on Windows2000
and Windows 2003 Server. You need to manual enable it.
1. Start-Run
2. rrasmgmt.msc
3. Select 'Remote Access policies'
4. Create a New 'Remote Access Policy' for Dial-up
5. Enable EAP for MD5-Challenge
6. Enable 'no encryption'
After you have finished setting the Policy, right click on it and open the
Properties settings. Grand remote access permission
Now please open compmgmt.ms and in open the Dial-in tab for the
Users/Groups. Select Control access through Remote Access Policy.
