Configure Remote Printer

I have a simple LAN with 3 Windows 98 systems, 1 Windows XP
system and a NT print server. I just hooked up my XP
system and can see all the file shares from the 98 systems.
And the 98 systems can see the XP file shares. I am pretty
certain that networking is ok. The 98 systems all see the
shared printer on the NT server, but the XP system does
not. I have tried and tried but can't get the XP system to
see the printer share. Any ideas for troubleshooting this?

Thanks!!

Where exactly do you expect to "see" the network printer?

Click Start, Run and key \\NTPrintServerName (using the actual name of the
NT Print Server) and press Enter. This should get you a Windows Explorer
window with all of the shares, including printers, in the right pane.

Start the Add Printer wizard.
Select Network Printer.
Select the "Connect to this printer ..." radio button
Key \\NTPrintServerName (actual name of the print server) followed by a \.
You should get (might take a few seconds) a drop down list of the printers
known on the print server).

If your NT Print Server does not have an "Additional Driver" for Windows XP,
you may want/need to add one.
