Computer won't display

When I turn the power on the computer turns on, but nothing is being
displayed on the screen at all. My mouse has power and my monitor is
in low power mode. The last thing I tried to do was load my Knoppix cd
which is a version of Linux that boots from a cd. Can anyone help?
 
Sounds like the cable is disconnected or your video adapter picked that
particular moment to fail.
