Computers can be a pain can't they. Try this...
Note the time when a freeze happens accurately and then restart your PC. Log
in as administrator and have a look in the "system and application Event
Logs" using "Event Viewer" application. (You can find this in Control
panel -> performance and maint. -> Admin tools)
Look for any entries in the logs around the time you wrote down. If you find
some marked "error" double click on them and see what it/they say. Look for
the error that seems to have come first if there are several.
A typical error might look like this....

The System Restore filter encountered the unexpected error '0xC0000010'

On the right hand side there is a button you can press to copy the content
of the error to the clip board. If you do that you can paste the error into
a message on this newsgroup (just like I did above). With this info we might
be able to suggest a solution.
