Mouse Freezes

Quite often my USB mouse "sticks" for a moment, then recovers.
Several times a day it freezes entirely and I have to unplug it then
plug it back in to get it working again. (Some sort of driver
conflict?)

Surfing around on the web I see a lot of people recommending to
uninstall/reinstall the mouse driver. But I'm a little reluctant to
do this. If I uninstall the driver, won't the mouse stop working?
How would I do anything after uninstalling the driver, and where would
I find a new driver to install?

Thanks.

I suggest trying a different mouse and if that works, replace the defective one.
