computer will not stay on after install of SP2

Had some spyware problems, so fixed most/all using adaware, spybot s&d,
hijack this etc ... Then installed winXP SP2 and now computer usually will
not even boot and sometimes does but then turns itself off randomly.
It will start in safe mode ok.
It is a friends PC and I noticed that he has Norton AV, AVG, and Zone Alarm
installed. Trouble is it will not stay on long enough for me to uninstall
anything!?!
Norton AV will not uninstall in Safe mode.

Any ideas ?!?

Thanks

If the SP2 was downloaded there may be problems with it.. next time use a
CD!
I had lots of probs with this, and eventually had to load from old GHOST
cds.
Also try and restore an old checkpoint - the latest before you knew of the
infection.

From the information in your post, my guess would be that your computer
was still not completely clean when you installed SP2. Do you get any
error messages at all? Anything about winserv (which would mean the
TVMedia malware is installed)?

We would need a lot more information to help you. In the meantime, here
