computer to computer networking

I recently bought a new computer and wanted to easily
transfer my files from the old one to the new one. I
bought a cable especially designed for this purpose and
hooked it up to both computers. The connection worked fine
and was allegedly communicating at a rate of 100 mb a
second! I was able to use the internet on both computers
independently at the same time!

When I tried to use the files and settings transfer wizard,
the option to use a connecting cord was greyed out! I
tried from both computers and was not able to activate the
connection which was already working in a different capacity!
Can anyone help me set up the proper connection to transfer
files from one computer to another?

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary,

Are you trying to use the direct connection option? Don't, that's only for
serial connections (very slow, could take days). Instead, try this. Using
the Network Neighborhood, map a drive on the other machine to the one you
are trying to transfer from. Then when running fastwiz, use the "other"
option and type in the drive letter to the mapped drive and indicate what
folder you want the file placed in.
