Computer shutting itself down

Two weeks ago my computer began shutting itself down after a very brief
freeze up for no apparent reason. Sometimes even when I was not even
currently typing or anything. It would then give this error message on a full
blue screen I have never seen before:

A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO
YOUR COMPUTER.

KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR

CHECK TO MAKE SURE ANY NEW HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE IS INSTALLED PROPERLY…

(I don’t have any)

IF PROBLEMS CONTINUE DISABLE OR REMOVE ANY NEWLY INSTALLED HARDWARE OR
SOFTWARE. DISABLE BIOS MEMORY OPTIONS SUCH AS CACHING OR SHADOWING.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
*** STOP: 0*00000077 (0*C000000E, 0*C0000000E, 0*00000000, 0*00471000)

BEGINNING DUMP OF MEMORY

It then sometimes attempts to restart, sometimes seemingly successfully,
sometimes it takes longer and shuts down again.

Restarting my system by using the Reset button on my CPU tower doesn’t work,
it would get back to the very first start up screen and then never get around
to its boot up check of Primary Master, Primary Slave etc.

Anyone has any ideas? I’m doing a lot of research and course work and I have
already lost documents in the process of being typed when this happens
without warning! I don’t even have time to back up!

You may have one of two probl;ems.
a. You have a faulty memory module or power supply causing power
fluctuations that affect memory
b. You have a worm or virus causing the shutdown

If you have more than one memory module, pull one out and run the PC: if it
fails, then swap the modules. If you still have the same failure then look
to virus/worm causing the failure.

Make sure you ahve an upto date and good virus / worm detecting application.
Norton Anti Virus / eTrust EZ ANtivirus or the like.

Perform a full scan and hope this cures you problems.

If neither of these work, take your PC into a reputable service company and
have them diagnose the hardware components to identify source of problem.
