sometimes it will stay on for 10 or 15 minutes or sometimes longer. it's
always updated even my windows live defender and symantec corporate
anti-virus. this problem has been going on for almost a couple of weeks now
and it sems like it's getting worse everyday. can somebodu help me? thanks.

That sounds like it's very likely a hardware problem, not Windows. I'd
suspect overheating, flaky power supply or voltage at the wall outlet, or
RAM.

Wow! You can tell both of those for sure without even looking at the
computer? You must be a kompooter teknishun!

As I said, there are several possibilities for what causes it. I too suspect
overheating strongly, which is why I put it first in my list, but it by
means sure that that's what the problem is.

Moreover, overheating, although often caused by a buildup of dust, can also
be caused by other things, such as fan failure.
