Can't Get Into Windows

Hi,

Recently I shut down my computer improperly and I’ve been trying to get back
into Windows so that I can do a System Restore and get my computer back to
it’s normal state. Well, originally I got a blue screen that said “Your
computer was shut down improperly. If this was the first time that this has
happened restart your computer…â€

Well, I decided to reformat my computer and I did boot from CD. Well a
bunch of options came up (Partitions, did I want to erase my hard drive,
etc.) and I can’t remember what I pressed. Well, to make a long story short,
my Windows came up with all of my old settings. I thought, “Awesome! Now I
don’t have to reformatâ€. Well, I turned my computer off and now whatever I
do it will just go to the screen that looks like its installing Windows
again.

So, how do I get back into Windows so that I can do a System Restore? I’m
willing to do whatever it takes, I just don’t want to reformat because I had
a TON of stuff on my computer saved that I don’t want to lose. So, what do I
need to do? I will do ANYTHING!

Thanks.

Do a reinstall over current install. Its trying to reinstall but it having a
issue. You could use command consol to get in to the drive to backup data. I
some times buy a 2 drive and do a new install on the new one and use the old
drive as my slave drive then I copy what ever I need from the old drive.

I had a similar problem. If your original install is okay and you can get
back into it or use F8 for safe mode and pick the one that isn't trying to
reinstall. After you are back to your original install, go to msconfig and
boot.ini tab, click the Check All Boot Paths button and delete the one it
finds as error. Not sure if the solution or if I was clear as mud.
