Computer shuts off, seconds after turning it on.

My computer just started doing this about a month ago.
I push the button to turn on my computer. After about 10 - 20 seconds, it
suddenly will shut off. When this happens, the lights will go off on the
computer, but the lights on the modem will stay on.
What I've been doing is shutting off the main power switch on the back of
the computer, turn off the modem, wait a few minutes and turn the computer
first, then the modem.
This works most of the time, but today I had to do this 3 times!!!
Can someone assist me in what the cause may be and what I could do?

Check for:

1) Viruses
2) Spywares
3) Installed firewall software
4) Driver updates
5) Microsoft Windows Updates.
6) In the Bios to see if fans are working and CPU is not too hot.
7) Power Supply problems
