I have just tried to install XP on my computer and it is unable to
complete the installation as it randomly restarting. I do not believe
it is a faulty PSU or RAM as it is restarting at exactly the same
point of the installation process every time.

Can anyone help?

Many Thanks,

Jacob

Only if you give us a clue as to when/where it is restarting. I assume
you already ran the XP compatibility check? Yes? Are you trying to
upgrade an existing installation (if so, of what?) or do a clean
install?

To make life easier on yourself (if you have the appropriate skills) and
on XP, you may be able to get the install to complete if you remove any
un-necessary hardware from the PC before installing (Sound cards, NICs,
modem cards, USB devices, TV tuner cards, etc.) and add them afterwards.

I have not already run he compatibility check, as it is a clean
install and I did not know you could do that, what happens is it
displays the xp pro splash screen then the screen colour changes to
blue i.e. it starts trying to finish off the installation process and
it restarts. A lot of the components are intergrated onto the
motherboard, so there is very little I can physically remove from the
computer before installing.

Many Thanks for your help, what do you suggest?

Jacob

That's the point at which is tries to boot the 'setup' that it has just
put on the hard disk. Check that your BIOS is set to boot the hard disk
before the CD at that point - or else pop the CD out rather swiftly ..
otherwise, as you say, it will just boot the CD again, when it really
didn't want to, and start over (and over, and over)
