Computer reboots when I try to write to CDRW

Hello and Help!

In the past month whenever I try to create a new folder on a CDRW the
computer reboots. After the restart it comes back with a message that the
computer has recovered from a serious error. I have two drives and it does
this for both. I'm using Roxio CD&DVD 6. I've removed and re-installed it
several times with no difference. System Restore also does not work anymore
so I can't go back to a time when it worked. I've got Win XP SP2. I don't
remember what I did to cause this problem - I've spent so much time trying
to fix it. Any ideas? Thanks

I encountered similar problem to this twice on seperate computers.
1.) on both it was because the power supply for the computer wasn't able to
supply the power needed anymore. after replacing the power supplys to a new
and higher wattage, both computers are running with no problem.
this is the first thing that comes to my mind, hope it helps.

2.) if it isn't the power supply, and the cdrw worked before, then the
computer might have gotten corrupted, check your start up; run>'msconfig';
and check that all the programs are the ones you know.

other wise your guess is as good as mine
good luck

Please make sure that the correct Ultra DMA IDE drivers are installed on
your PC. These should be part of you motherbaord chipset drivers.

The drivers should be supplied from the CDRom that came with your PC,
either motherboard drivers or under a utilities section on the CDRom.
