CDRW + DVD Drivers

I have somehow deleted or corrupted the drivers for my CDRW and DVD roms. I
have tried restoring to an earlier time etc and it does not help. How can I
download the xp drivers, for the Liteon CDRW and A samsung DVD Rom. both
suppliers web sites say they use the xp drivers from my operating system, but
it can't find them.

Try this: boot into Safe Mode, open Device Manager, remove all instances of
the CDRW and DVD ROM, reboot, Windows should now detect the hardware and
install the drivers.

Such devices use the drivers for the controllers they attach to (usually
the same IDE ones as for hard drives), and then a file system extension
is added. If you install burning software, that adds additional drivers
for the burning, and it is likely that has gone AWOL. To tidy up, get a
registry patch file, cdgone.reg, from
www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click on it and merge
it into the registry; reboot

You will then need to reinstall any burning software that you *do* use.
