What you got is a pop up advertisement. They want you to buy something. No
antivirus calls a virus a "parasite". Neither do the various anti adware
programs, such as SpyBot and Ad-Aware! Be vigilant!

They need to make those types of ads illegal. You want to get rid of spam-
pass a law holding the sites they are plugging responsible, because either
directly or indirectly they are. Site goes out of business... no money to be
made from spammin, that would equal no spam. Same would apply for the new
breed of terror/error ads.

That happened to me also. I was told my someone that knows alot about computers and that is just a spam ware. You did the right thing by clicking no. Also get spybot which is free and check you computer at least once a week, It gets rid of all spam on you computer. Here is the web page to download spybot. Go to www.freedownloads.com

They are just trying to sell you something! Probably
some kind of scam. Your anti-virus program doesn't call
anything a "parasite!" If you had clicked "yes" then you
would have received an advertisement. So you don't need
to worry about it.

Do you have your firewall enabled, and instant messenger
disabled, this is how this particular pop up came thru, I
think, most home users have no need for IM, it just allows
these damn pop up ads access to your pc, I would strongly
urge you to get zonealarm and read up on how to configure
properly for your pc, great piece of firewall software and
free.

There are quite a lot of this sort of scam ads popping up: The usual
ones purport to have measured that your machine is running inefficiently
in some way. They have done no actual test, they are just a come-on to
get you to pay a lot for something that will pretend to solve a
non-problem. This is another of the same.

I suggest a popup stopper program, such as the free version of Pop-up
Stopper from http://www.panicware.com/product_psfree_download.html

And then to find out about parasites (which can be a genuine nuisance)
read up at http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm
