ad-aware from lavasoft is a parasite!!!!

Becareful, I read today that ad-aware from lavasoft can cause pop-ups
to appear and they apparently lay the blame on some spyware program,
sounds fishy to me. I would un-install ad-aware if I were you, until
they resolve their issues, no point in having your computer affected
with a parasite.

Gerry;
Where did you read this? You have included nothing in your post but your opinion. Where is your
evidence? Are you quoting anything or anybody? If so, who or what?
Ad-aware doesn't even run unless you start it. How's it going to do anything?

Please post a credible source. Adaware has helped uncounted numbers of
users. If there is an issue with using it, then this should be made public
as many people trust it to help clean their system. If there is not an
issue, then you should retract the allegation.

You have to careful what you read, people who write can get the wrong end of
the stick. I've sorted out several PC'c in the past that were upset by
their owners innocently following bad advice printed in PC magazines.

Adaware by Lavasoft is simply a VERY useful part of that "multi-layered"
approach to internet security, that we all have to spend so much time
maintaining.

Wouldn't it be lovely if was possible to somehow round up all the writers of
viruses / malware / scumware etc. and put them in the middle of a football
stadium, packed with an audience of ordinary PC users who've lost time and
money at the hands of those writers !

It always works just fine. I use the free version and have
for several years, using 6.181 now. I also run SpyBot.

Perhaps there is an ulterior motive in "Gerry o" 's post ! If his advice
was followed it would of course reduce ones internet armoury !

Greetings --

Please provide some sort of documentation to substantiate your
claim. It sounds more like you've been listening to one of the
spyware authors than to a reputable source. FYI, neither Spybot
Search & Destroy, nor any other security monitoring utility I've tried
identify Ad-Aware as malware.

Yeah that sounds very intelligent. Lets do that. How do we round them
up though? Lavasoft's people are in Sweden.

Can you quote some reference for your statement?

I have been using the paid version of ad-aware with ad-watch for some
time now and have NOT had ANY problems with it.

There are a couple of things that I wished worked differently, but that
is beside the point. It has done an EXCELLENT job of blocking add sites
and locating ad-ware & spy-ware on my system.

You read everything you believe?

(Metathesis intentional)

(OK, it's not really metathesis but I can't think of the right word at the
moment.)

If you are a IBM PC Specialist, why do you have to call a technician
to come in and fix your problems? A specialist should have the
necessary technical expertise to install Windows, at the very least.

Stay in business, though...I make a lot of money coming in and
cleaning up YOUR messes. And I will smile all the way to the bank as
I take every one of you clients away from you!

=?ISO-8859-15?Q?Sti=A9ky?=

This guy posted earlier that it crashed his computer so he now has a grudge.
He's been spreading his opinion on various newsgroups where he declares
LavaSoft's Ad Aware to be spyware. He definitely has his own agenda (do
a Google Group search for "(e-mail address removed)" to see what I mean).

Unfortunately, many people are going to believe his crap without doing
their own research. Next he'll be spouting that ZoneAlarm and BlackIce
are Trojans and that we should shut them down.

I'd PLONK Gerry O but he's too funny to stop reading...

He wrote it, then read it and now he is citing himself as an
authority who needs somebody else to fix his computer.
