I've been running AdAware 6.181 for over a year, never get
any pop-ups. Computer runs fast. I also run SpyBot and
Google toolbar (which a pop-up blocker).

Use can always use Spybot Search and Destroy to tell if Ad-aware is a parasite. Unless Search and Destroy is a parasite and they are working together? Who Knows!!!

No, No, No, not. Parasite- person spreding Bull on the internet. I have been using A-aware for 4 years and it is a good product. It is a good product period. Even if it did (which it does not) wouldn't that be worth getting the spy ware off of your computer, your Personal Computer, or as Leo Laporte from tech tv says "personal confuser" ok bye bye. Love Dennis S. from Mpls.

I Run one of the worlds worst and biggest Porn sites that floods computers with pop ups and spyware and when Gary put Ad-Aware on his PC I couldn't get to him anymore so I told him to take it off because it was bad (shhhh don't tell him I lied as he is our best customer) Ad-Aware is an awesome flawless program don't use or the internet will be safer.

Ad-aware and spybot S&D are both great products. I do mobile pc repairs and network support and spybots are on every machine I work on and are the main issue on about 25% of what I work on. In my experience each product will do almost the same job of removing the bots, and each will find a few things the other doesn't so using both is a safe bet.

For the Tech's out there I would also recommend Hijack This. It can be downloaded at http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php

It will find some bots and redirectors (Hijackers) that the other 2 don't. I have also found virus/trojan processes that are missed by NAV and McAfee. NOTE: I do not recommend it to the average user. You can remove things with this tool that will mess up your system. (If you don't know what it is, do not remove it.) For us experienced geeks it can be an awsome tool to add to your security arsenal

As for Garry O, all I can add is.... :p

Lavasoft has Ad-Aware which is NOT the same program as the
Adware which is the "parasite" and the similarity of the
names seems to be causing many problems. The Norton page
alerting to this problem does not refer to Lavasoft. Do a
Google for "sarc+adware" and these are the first few hits...

You will notice that they refer to a toolbar and do not
mention Lavasoft anywhere.

BTW, just look at SpyBot's exclude list and Exactbar is
blocked/detected. I'm sure the "real" Lavasoft Ad-Aware
also will detect and remove the Adware Exactbar.

Please reply to news group.

AdAware is NOT a parasite. Adware IS. PC World repeatedly says that
AdAware is great in its articles. I would love to see where you read
that AdAware is a parasite.
