Computer hangs when trying to delete a file in explore

all other functions of explore work ok. Just when I try and delete a file,
the delete window with file flying from lt. to rt. hangs up and I have to
shut it down.
Any ideas on how to fix this

Have you checked for viruses or spyware?

If this isn't a system file one shouldn't have any issues, so it's worth
checking that all the crudware is off the PC.
