Computer hangs on resume

Computer hangs when resuming from hibernation. It goes through POST ok, then starts the resume process, and hangs just after the black screen resume bars are filled. Computer has AMD K6 processor, 90MB RAM, running W2K pro, sp4. Any ideas?

Hi Harley,

From my experience this is a fairly common behavior when an application was
open that does not like to be put into hibernation, I know MapPoint 2004
hangs my laptop every time if I hibernate while in a map with my GPS on.

When the computer does not recover from hibernation and you have to do a
hard power-off, the next boot should prompt you asking if you want to delete
the hibernation file and boot normally, does this not happen on your
computer?

Are you able to hit F8 before the hibernation file loads and get into safe
mode?

I have the same problem!
What about F8?

Do trial and error, run the comp with one prog disabled after the next to
see which one is the culprit?

What else?
