it's a celeron 700 workstation running windows me. after it load
windows me it will freeze the first few times i do anything (open m
computer, my docs....etc.). after several reboots it seems to wor
better but still freezes eventually (sometimes 15 min.....sometime
2hrs).
the cpu temp is running from 30C to 36C.
I've removed all pci cards (only a modem card).
I've ran it on a new power supply.
I've run it with a new cd drive.
I've ran memory tests that passed.
I've cleaned up the start menu.
I've reloaded the OS
I've ran tests on the hard drive that came out ok and even then, i'v
put in a different hard drive.
nothing has stopped the problem.
my guess is that it's the motherboard.
can anyone give me some suggestions or perhaps confirm my suspicion

Failing capacitors on the motherboard and/or a failing power supply.

FWIW I had similar problems recently. Purchased a new mothboard, cpu
and memory figuring I'd put that hassle behind me. But the problem
remained. Then the monitor finally died. Connected a spare and have
never had those problems since.

Lesson learned, many things can cause freezes. And they don't have to
be inside the case.

My bet is failing caps on the motherboard. But if these look ok I have
also seen 2 Logitech USB mice that have caused this. The same mice with
a PS/2 adaptor solved the problem.
