Computer Freezes

I've been having trouble with my computer freezing once it has been on for a
while (>1hr 30 min), the mouse at first goes slow, then stops, and it also
freezes sometimes whenever i put the capslock on (Weird, I know). I just
reformatted my computer to solve the problem, installed Norton Anti-virus
2005, and defragmented it after all the windows update stuff was installed,
it's really frustrating and could use any help you can offer!
Thanks

Hi

Have a look in the Event Viewer to see if there are 'Errors' that may refer
to the problem - date/time. If you do find any, could you please post the
Event ID and Source?

Hey, I looked but do you want errors in "Applications", or warnings in "System"

Hi

It's normally the 'Errors' that will refer to a freeze, reboot etc. of a
system. Have you tried another mouse/keyboard to see if the ones you are
using now are at fault?

Hey,
I don't think it is anything to do with the Mouse/Keyboard, but next time it
freezes, I will note the time, and look at the event Viewer, and post what it
says

If you feel competent enough, take the case off and clean
out any dust. Carefully clean any dust from the CPU heat
sink. If you don't feel competent, get someone else to do
it. It may be that your computer is getting hot because of
dust around the system.

Cheers,

It might be easier when cleaning inside the case to get a can of compressed
air from a computer store, that way you don't need to touch anything. Pay
special attention to the case ventilation holes as they can get clogged. One
other thought, when was the last time you changed the battery in your mouse
and are you sure the CPU fan is still turning

Ok, so I cleaned out the inside of the Computer with compressed air, and you
were right, it was really dirty, but I cleaned it out and my computer still
freezes. It just did it again, and so I turned off the computer, and
restarted it a couple of times, and it still froze, untill I unhooked the
Internet ether cable. After I did that, the computer "unfroze" and I looked
at the event viewer, and it only had a warning saying that "Windows saved
user registry while an application or service was still using the registry
durring log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed.
The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use. This is often
caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to
run in either the LocalService or Network Service account."
So that's what I'm looking at. The weird thing is that When i physically
unconnected my internet, the computer worked, and when i reconnected the
cable, the computer is fine, so it has to have something to do with that I
think. Any help you can give would be very welcome! Thanks again
